If you're like me, you're less than thrilled sometimes with the "Mid-Chapter Checkpoints" in Go Math. I feel that they can be too long, and I end up spending an entire math lesson just administering the Check. Many of the questions are overly repetitive and unnecessary. I have created an alternate Mid-Chapter Check that is multiple choice. I have shortened the check as well. This will give a more timely, realistic, helpful experience for the students and teacher. It works great with online testing for systems like Illuminate if you want or just paper-pencil. Also, this can be used as a SECOND TRY experience for the kids. You can give the first Mid-Chapter Checkpoint in the book, review and scaffold the kids, then take this alternate as a re-check before proceeding. It's all up to you! I hope your students benefit from this as much as mine. Formative assessment doesn't need to take an hour.

Use ratio reasoning to convert measurement units; manipulate and transform units appropriately when multiplying or dividing quantities.
Find a percent of a quantity as a rate per 100 (e.g., 30% of a quantity means 30/100 times the quantity); solve problems involving finding the whole, given a part and the percent.
Solve unit rate problems including those involving unit pricing and constant speed. For example, if it took 7 hours to mow 4 lawns, then at that rate, how many lawns could be mowed in 35 hours? At what rate were lawns being mowed?
Make tables of equivalent ratios relating quantities with whole-number measurements, find missing values in the tables, and plot the pairs of values on the coordinate plane. Use tables to compare ratios.
