These vocabulary books were created to be used with students using Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems. The books may be used to model vocabulary across daily activities and routines at home, school and the park/playground. The teacher/parent should read the story, modeling the core vocabulary on the child’s communication device. During subsequent readings of the story, the teacher/parent can help the student access the vocabulary on their device when the story is read to them. Teachers/parents can build on the scenes and vocabulary on each page by labeling and commenting. These books can also be helpful for children to understand expectations, almost like a social story, across a variety of different activities and routines at home, school and the park/playground.
