I created the GoMath Journals to help my students think more deeply about the Essential Questions for each lesson and to work on writing about math.
Simply print out the pages and cut them in half so that you can put them in order by lesson number. I use the “booklet creation” setting on our copier to make them into little books, and then staple them in the middle.
Each student gets a little booklet and at the end of our Guided Math time, we gather and talk about the Essential Question and formulate an answer. I often prompt them to think about what they learned at the Teacher Table. We usually write the answer to the question together and most often I use the Journal Question as an “exit ticket” to check for learning. If things didn’t go smoothly, we do the question together. Enjoy!!
