These goal cards were designed to use in PLC’s and for individual teachers. The purpose of these goal cards is to set learning goals and instructional goals. Teachers, instructional coaches, and school leaders may use these goal setting cards to set achievement goals for their students (individual and whole group) based on the data analyzed during their PLC’s. These cards also focus on alignment, ensuring all participants are familiar with the standards being addressed, learning outcomes desired, and formative assessment designated to assess the effectiveness. I have included an example of how the cards should be completed on the next page.
Studies show that when goals are written out and placed in an area where they can be visually seen, they’re more likely to succeed. I recommend printing these goal cards out on cardstock and placing them on a corkboard near or around the teacher’s desk. If your school has a data room, they can also be placed on display there. These goal cards should be interchangeable. After they have been reached, new goals need to be established. It is important to bring these goal cards, along with student work samples to PLC’s to determine if the goal needs to remain a goal or if there needs to be new goals set in place.
Goal cards come in four colors: black, blue, red, and purple. There are two types of goal cards. One is for PLC’s and the next one is for individual teachers. This is an excellent tool for instructional coaches to use, especially when coaching one-on-one with individual teachers. It’s also a tool used for accountability. I hope these goal cards do exactly what they were designed for: STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT! Thanks for your purchase and enjoy them!
