By knowing what we want to achieve and how we plan to get there, we greatly increase our chances of success. Goal setting is a research proven strategy that students need to learn. In my experience, I have seen that students are expected to make goals, but rarely taught how to do so. Therefore, I have designed this lesson to guide students in setting and monitoring their academic goals.
This plan includes a 1 ½ day guided lesson that teaches students the following:
1) Why it is important to set goals
2) The steps to write goals and monitor progress
3) Characteristics of successful goals
The lesson includes the following:
1) Detailed Lesson Plans
2) Two student worksheets
3) Three PowerPoint presentations
~ 1 for the lesson's Hook
~ 1 for teaching and discussing
~ 1 with directions for weekly goal setting
After the guided lesson, students will use warm-up time every Monday to write their goals for the upcoming week and evaluate their success from the previous week.
By teaching students this life skill, you will help them reach their highest potential!
