This set of reading logs are very popular with teachers, students and parents. They are very user friendly and a real time saver!
The reading log only needs to be sent out monthly! Depending on the devices and your district's technology policies, you may be able to add the pdf to the devices or an online storage site. Make sure the pdf forms can be read with a form app on your devices or through the storage site.
Each week the kids set a reading goal of how many minutes they will read. They record how many minutes they read each day and at the end of the week they add up their minutes with their parents or in class and set a goal for the next week.
There is a table showing the monthly totals for reading 20 minutes every day, four times a week and two times a week. It also shows the total number of minutes for the month and then rounds them to the nearest hour or half hour to give the kids numbers they can relate to when setting their goals. There is also a column for parents to initial once a week which parents love!
There is a reading log for each month starting with August 2017 and going through August 2018. The logs come in both black & white and color versions.
The reasons teachers, parents and student love these logs are:
Saves time and paper compared to weekly logs
Very easy for all students to fill out
Involves students in setting and monitoring goals
Involves student, parents and the teacher working together
Helps motivate students to read at home
There is math involved with tracking the minutes
They are cute enough to keep on the fridge!
