Product Description
It is so important for students to have attainable goals and to understand what steps they need to take to reach those goals. I created this resource to help students work with their teacher to set goals and track the progress they have made.

In my classroom, I use this resource to
♦ Communicate expectations and student progress with parents,
♦ Give students a visual of what we are working to achieve by the end of the year
♦ Keep centers focused and organized
♦ Help students keep track of all that they have accomplished throughout the year

The posters with the skills on them are displayed in our classroom and shared with parents (in homework folders, during parent meetings, open house etc). The icons are a great visual for students and are used to help them keep track of all of the goals they have mastered! I also use the same icons to label activities, centers, and workstations around the classroom so there is consistency for the students and they know exactly which activities they need to practice to meet their goals.

Since every classroom has a wide range of ability levels, I like to provide students with specific, achievable goals to strive for no matter where they are academically.

Goals and picture icons include:
★ I can write my first name
★ I can write my last name
★ I can identify all uppercase letters
★ I can identify all lowercase letters
★ I can produce letter sounds
★ I can identify rhyming words
★ I can produce rhyming words
★ I can break words into syllables
★ I can read CVC words
★ I can segment CVC words
★ I know 5 sight words
★ I know 10 sight words
★ I know 15 sight words
★ I know 20 sight words
★ I know 30 sight words
★ I can write in complete sentences
★ I can combine two words to make a compound word
★ I can blend onset and rime
★ I can identify individual words in a sentence
★ I can produce a word with the same beginning sound as another word
★ I can produce the ending sound of a word
★ I can identify the parts of a book
★ I can recognize the difference between a letter and a word
★ I can retell a story

★ I can rote count to 30
★ I can subitize to 5
★ I can count objects with 1:1 correspondence
★ I can identify an AB pattern
★ I can identify an AAB pattern
★ I can identify an ABC pattern
★ I can sort by 1 attribute
★ I can recognize numerals 1-10
★ I can sort by more than 1 attribute
★ I can recognize numbers 1-30
★ I can add and subtract
★ I can count to 100
★ I can count by 5's
★ I can count by 10's
★ I can identify 2D shapes
★ I can identify 3D shapes
