I am a Special Education teacher, so I see my students in small groups. During their reading intervention time, I often have them set goals and place them in a pocket on our reading tracking board. This helps them to take ownership of their reading and goals.
I have my students set small goals for themselves. When they reach their goal, they get a lot of praise (and a small piece of candy). We then set a new goal.
My students really love setting goals and look forward to making their goals.
Goal Sheets include:
- Whole Words Read (Nonsense Words)
- Correct Letter Sounds (Nonsense Words)
I hope these goal setting strips inspire your kiddos too!
