When I discuss goal setting with my students, I teach them that a good goal has action steps. For this activity, I have the students work in pairs or small groups to sort action steps by which goal(s) they think they would help achieve. There are 6 action steps created for goal, though there are some action steps that could certainly go for different goals. It’s fun to hear the students “debate” where some should go!
Sorting card set is editable to match the language of your school and includes four goals:
1. To grow 3 levels in reading this year.
2. To earn an A or B in math this year.
3. To go home on blue or green every day.
4. To have good friendships.
