Enjoy this fun lesson that incorporates speaking, rhythm, instruments, movement, composition and form.

A perfect speech to teach to your elementary music students anytime but especially every November around Thanksgiving time! Reading, reviewing and identifying 1 or 2 measure rhythmic patterns consisting of quarter notes, quarter rests, 2 eighth notes beamed and 4 sixteenth notes beamed is addressed. Adaptations and extensions are also addressed. Your students will love the engaging activities included in the lesson plan and the PowerPoint. PowerPoints work very well with Smartboards - just touch the board to activate the sound effects and the animations.

The set of Lesson Plans and PowerPoint interactive slides include:

• 4 lessons each 5-20 minutes (21 pdf pages) plus an original speech poem. The lesson plans include detailed instructions for teaching the poem, rhythmic activities, mixer dance and having your students work in cooperative groups to compose a new composition to second through fourth grade. The lesson is also appropriate for fifth graders if they are working on sixteenth notes. Additional adaptions and extensions are also addressed.

• 36 slides created with PowerPoint 2010 (with 30 slides being teacher and/or student interactive) may be used to reinforce rhythmic reading and aurally identifying rhythm patterns. You will have everything you need to teach all the lessons.

It is a perfect piece to address Orff and Kodaly curricular concepts while enjoying making music.
