"God Grew Tired of Us" is an awesome documentary about the "Lost Boys" that exposes students to the genocide and civil war in Sudan in an intriguing way. It follows the lives of a group of boys over a few years as they leave the African refugee camps and resettle in the USA. A history of the genocide is presented, as well as showing the difficulties of adjusting to life in a new culture. Year after year my students love this documentary! They will leave with a clear understanding of the effects of war on people and a better appreciation for diversity and understanding in the US.
The handout includes 25 video response questions that focus on the big ideas presented in the video. The questions are written in chronological order with the movie so you can pause and discuss as needed. Students will never forget this video and will continue to bring it up all year!
Includes: Student worksheet, teacher answer key, and a teacher reference guide
