Going Places by Peter and Paul Reynolds is a wonderful story about Rafael and Maya who learn to think outside of the box during the Going Places Contest! The book along with these activities will encourage your students to find inspiration in the world around them as they dig into the text and complete a STEM activity!
The following companion includes multiple ELA activities like retelling (story maps and BME), comparing, cause and effect, character evaluation, authors purpose/message and vocabulary (puzzles and book). Additionally, I have included a STEM activity to accompany the story! There are several background and instructional pages for the challenge, as well as posters, recording pages (recommended for younger students), and a journal (with 2 cover page options).
Students of all ages will truly enjoy diving into this instant classic as well as engaging in the engineering design process.
