Students will be creating 6 fraction addition problems and 6 fraction subtraction problems by spinning numerators and denominators. For each problem, they spin the numerator wheel twice (using their pencil tip and a paper clip with the spinners on the page) and the denominator wheel once (both fractions will have the same denominator) in order to build the fractions. On the back of the page are two tables to fill in the fractions created, by writing addition and subtraction equations and finding the sums and differences. Once they have found the answer, they must simplify the fraction if possible.
This activity could be used as a partner activity, small group lesson, independent practice, assessment, homework, or reteach.
