Students will answer this essential question- HOW DID THE DISCOVERY OF CALIFORNIA GOLD AFFECT THE UNITED STATES?
Students will exam and analyze documents on the following topics:
3. Discrimination and Prejudice
5. Boom towns and Statehood
Finally, students will choose between two different writing assignment in which they will write a letter from the perspective of someone who lived in California during the Gold Rush, such as a Mexican American, a Chinese or European immigrant, an American pioneer or from the perspective of a Native American Indian who lived in California during the Gold Rush.
