Students will read excerpts of letters that were written by 49ers who came to California in search of their fortune. They will learn about the challenges of working in the mines. They will also see that even though the work stretched them to their limits, the gold seekers remained optimistic about their chances.
After reading, questions will be completed to further understanding. These can lead to great classroom discussions!
I also have narratives from former slaves and pioneers in my store. They help students make great connections to history!
Thanks for stopping by!
If you have a moment, I would love to hear from you.
