PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

I searched for a behavior system that focused on positive behavior and personal responsibility. When a lot of behavior issues exist, clip charts can be embarrassing and cause children to give up on having a better day. Though I loved the ease of Class Dojo and the instant parent communication element, I found the same to be true. I found something that works with my mainly low income students who may lack positive examples for social-emotional development.

I use the "Golden Ticket" behavior system. When students are on task and making good choices, they earn golden tickets. If they are having difficulties, they will not earn a ticket. In my classroom, children have a small container velcroed to their desk that holds their tickets. I have also seen other teachers that use paper pockets at one central location in the room. For me, I find it easier for my students to keep them at their work space. Once earned, I do not take away golden tickets. At the end of each day, students count up their tickets and fill out the daily parent communication form. Then, I complete the bottom of the form, letting parents know specific behaviors they excelled in and those that need some work. There is a space for parents to sign.

I do use red tickets for behaviors that are distracting, disrespectful or harmful to other children. Red tickets equal getting a consequence that is equal to the behavior. If a student earns a red ticket, they can turn that ticket back in for good choices. As long as a student has at least one golden ticket and no red tickets at the end of the day, that students get a stamp on their hand as they leave the classroom. Rather than wasting my money on treasure box junk toys or junk food, I give Reward Tickets for students who were "golden" all week long. And, on Friday, I also use brag tags for students who are meeting and exceeding behavior or academic goals. I find that these things work well together!

I use these Reward Tickets (they're FREE!): https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Reward-Cards-210960
