Product Description
I have used this activity with both middle and high school students. The students love having choice and I love seeing them reading poetry and writing about it.

"Goldilocks and the Three Poems" - Students will pick a "Just Right", "Too Difficult", and "Too Easy" poem. Then students will investigate all three poems. You could spend 1-3 class periods on this assignment. Don't be fooled by the name, this is a rigorous activity for secondary students only. Use as an introduction to your poetry unit or anytime you need a 1 - 3 day lesson.

This activity addresses the needs of today's students to have choice and be interactive. This activity addresses the needs of today's teachers to challenge students with higher level thinking and analysis skills.

I have used this activity during an evaluation and received fantastic feedback. What's even better is that the STUDENTS are doing all the work.

This activity can be used with your own classroom textbook for convenience. This activity can be used with online text to add that technology piece to your lesson.

This includes printable student directions and two graphic organizers / worksheets.
This activity includes different versions that can be used to differentiate the activity.
This activity is also a GREAT formative assessment!
