I've created a spreadsheet to make reporting errors for the Sounds-in-Words section of the Goldman-Fristoe Test of Articulation-2 (GFTA-2) faster and more user friendly. I created this because I felt that transferring the errors to the grid provided on the record form was overly time consuming. This spreadsheet significantly cuts down on the work you would do analyzing errors!
1. Administer the Sounds-in-Words section of the GFTA-2.
2. Type the sound substitutions into the colored cells - cells are color coded into initial, medial, and final.
3. Voila! Errors automatically organize by sound & word position into the black & white grid.
(for the GFTA-3, but they are essentially the same)
Looking for a spreadsheet that will analyze the Sounds-in-Words and Sounds-in-Sentences sections of the GFTA-2? You can get that here: GFTA-2 Complete Auto-Analyzing Spreadsheet
Users will see the stimulus words and the color coded recording grids from the GFTA-2 on the left side of the spreadsheet. Sound errors can be entered into the colored grids and these errors auto-populate into the error analysis grid on the right side. This error analysis grid automatically organizes the errors by sound and position (initial, medial, and final). (LESS WORK FOR YOU!)
Stimulus words from the Sounds-in-Words section are included in this document and when you input errors, they will auto populate into the corresponding error analysis grid.
Once you've recorded all the errors on the record form grid (colored grid), you can copy and paste the error analysis grid (black and white grid) into your report. This analysis grid shows errors by sound and position. If you need an example of what the analysis grid looks like, feel free to download the free sentences version on my page.
-Only type in the colored cells, white cells don't do anything.
-Because the Goldman-Fristoe 2 uses words that have more than one medial target, (e.g., "bathtub"), each medial sound is recorded in a separate cell, labeled medial 1 and medial 2.
-If you have IPA symbols in Microsoft Word (they can be downloaded from the Internet), these can be copied from Microsoft Word and pasted into this spreadsheet, you can also copy the IPA symbols from the spreadsheet and paste them within the spreadsheet.
-Before you start entering in the errors, make sure your error analysis grid (black and white) is empty. If there are any 0's, simply put a space into the corresponding box on the record (left) grid.
-Have an omission? I'll usually use "0" to document this and make a key at the bottom to make it user friendly, but you can use another symbol, like "-" if you like.
Please send me a message if you have any questions about this spreadsheet. This spreadsheet has been beta tested and highly rated by other speech-language pathologists, and I hope you enjoy it too! :)
