I've created a spreadsheet to make reporting errors on the Goldman-Fristoe Test of Articulation-3 (GFTA-3) faster and more user friendly. I created this because I felt that analyzing the new GFTA-3 was really time consuming (especially if you're trying to organize sound errors by sound and position!) This spreadsheet significantly cuts down on the work you would do analyzing errors!
1. Administer the GFTA-3.
2. Type the sound substitutions into the colored cells - cells are color coded into initial, medial, and final.
3. Voila! Errors automatically organize by sound & word position into the black & white grid.
Video Tutorial Here!
Users will see the stimulus words and the color coded recording grids from the GFTA-3 on the left side of the spreadsheet. Sound errors can be entered into the colored grids and these errors auto-populate into the error analysis grid on the right side. This error analysis grid automatically organizes the errors by sound and position (initial, medial, and final). (LESS WORK FOR YOU!)
Stimulus words from the words and both sentences sections are included in this document and when you input errors, they will auto populate into the corresponding error analysis grid.
Once you've recorded all the errors on the record form grid (colored grid), you can copy and paste the error analysis grid (black and white grid) into your report. This error analysis grid shows errors by sound and position. The error analysis grid uses IPA symbols. For IPA symbols that aren't easily written with a typical keyboard, a target word with bolded letters is provided to enhance clarity for the reader. If you need an example of what the final error analysis grid looks like, feel free to download the free sentences version on my page.
-Only type in the colored cells, white cells don't do anything.
-Because the Goldman-Fristoe 3 uses words that have more than one medial target, (e.g., "vegetable"), each medial sound is recorded in a separate cell, labeled medial 1, medial 2, and medial 3.
-IPA symbols are used on the error analysis grid, which can be copied into different cells of the spreadsheet and used as needed.
-Before you start entering in the errors, make sure your analysis grid (black and white) is empty. If there are any 0s, simply put a space into the corresponding box on the record form (colored) grid.
-Since the GFTA-3 tests sounds multiple times, your error analysis grid may look like this: "w l". After you paste your grid into your document, you can put a comma between the sound errors, like this: "w, l" or leave it if you like. :)
-This spreadsheet (and all the others in my shop) work with GFTA-3's old and new record forms.
-Have an omission? I'll usually use "0" to document this and make a key at the bottom to make it user friendly, but you can use another symbol, like "-" if you like.
Please send me a message if you have any questions about this spreadsheet. This spreadsheet has been beta tested and highly rated by other speech-language pathologists, and I hope you enjoy it too! :)
This spreadsheet is for personal use only. To share, you must purchase multiple licenses- 1 per user.
