Counseling Wisdom offers #9 in a series of character education mini booklets. This detective themed paper folding mini book and center activity addresses the need for a good attitude at school. This character trait is presented to my students in April as we prepare for standardized testing and the end of the school year. It can just as easily be presented at the beginning of the school year. Packet includes a mini poster, a black line poster is also included for students to color. Students have the opportunity to write what a good attitude means to them and also draw a picture demonstrating their good attitude in their mini booklet. Also included is a detective themed center activity for 3rd and 4th grade students to help them learn the definitions of memorization, organization, concentration and learning strategies by going sleuthing for clues. The original lesson was designed for a 50 minute session, but these activities can easily be adapted to 30 minute sessions. A follow up unit on ways to practice these skills is coming soon!
