Foster and facilitate a positive climate in your classroom using these GEM awards.
The idea is to give your pupils more autonomy over what they value and appreciate at school from their peers.
A gem award (going the extra mile) can be used for anything, though I find it is best used for random acts of kindness that might otherwise go unnoticed.
Optional Organization Tips:
Have an easily accessible place in your classroom with blank awards and a turn in tray.
Leave the nominations open all through the week.
On a Friday, nominate a pupil or monitor to randomly select a GEM award to be read out and congratulated by the whole class.
You can then have the rest of the awards hand delivered to pupils.
It's an easy but lovely way to spread kindness and praise. Enjoy!
