The Good Eats episode Chips for Sister Marsha is a delicious way for students to learn how to alter a cookie recipe to suit their tastes using baking chemistry.

The episode follows a classic chocolate chip cookie recipe but is altered to make three different cookie types:

  • Chewy
  • Crispy
  • Puffy

The video runs only 20 minutes but extra time is needed for collaborating with classmates on the notes. An extra day is needed to mix and bake the cookies- a step not to miss!

Notes include student and teacher versions. Recipes linked are for Food Network and use weight measurements.

Good Eats episodes can be purchased ($1.99) on Amazon or Youtube.
