This interactive and highly engaging lesson will fit perfectly into any Daily 5 literacy program. It reviews author’s purpose, and then focuses on finding good fit books based on the need of the reader. This lesson is aligned with the common core standards, and is very helpful to jumpstart a student’s ability to pick a book that will benefit them and serve their individual needs. It allows the students to examine each author’s purpose for writing to see which type of book they might find of interest or useful for a particular assignment in class. I use it every year for my 4th graders so that they can make better choices in my classroom library for SSR, as well as book choices for my literature circle.
