Students immerse into a comprehensive analysis of "Good Kid, M.A.A.D City", Kendrick Lamar's 2012 narrative-style album. While listening to each song, students track the plot elements, analyze/interpret stylistic choices using SOAPSTone, and extract themes.
Main characters often learn a "lesson" or make an important personal discovery during the course of the story. If there is a lesson to be learned from Kendrick's story? What would it be and who learns it? Students will consider their job as a reader/listener. What lesson will they personally take from this story?
