Functional Text seems to be the new catch phrase in the educational world these days. However, this is one fad that I can actually get on board with!
Functional text is used for everyday information. It is called functional because it helps you function in your day-to-day life.
I think a lot of our students could benefit from learning how to read functional texts such as: recipes, classifieds, bus routes, menus, etc...
I am starting to create functional text activities that can be used with any piece of functional material you may have. I also wanted to make sure that I could use the handout over and over rather than create specific questions for each functional text.
This handout is intended to go with any grocery store circular. You can print out circulars from the internet, gather some from your local paper, ask students to each bring in their own from home, or just plain view them on the internet.
This product includes the link to the activity on Google Drive as it is a DIGITAL product and completely paperless!
