Product Description

For this activity, students will complete a digital escape room on Google Forms with a Super Mario Brothers Theme. They will complete five separate tasks that target literary devices and close reading skills in order to derive the passwords needed to unlock each digital lock/ defeat each villain in order to save Princess Peach, the princess of alliteration!

You will need to make the Google Form link available to students along with copies of the five puzzles. I put the link up on Google Classroom and give each group a hard copy packet of the puzzles to write on.

The five puzzles in this escape room activity include the following devices:

  1. Alliteration
  2. Assonance
  3. Allusion
  4. Paradox
  5. Epithet
  6. Simile
  7. Hyperbole
  8. Apostrophe
  9. Metonymy
  10. Euphemism
  11. Metaphor
  12. Extended Metaphor
  13. Juxtaposition
  14. Contrast
  15. Theme
  16. Parallel Structure
  17. Antithesis

Students will have fun trying to beat the villains and save Princess Peach all while reviewing essential terms for literary analysis! Consider using this escape room as a review before an assessment or as a way to introduce new skills!
