Description
Are you looking for a resource that engages your students with a fun story while using non-fiction text and video to teach science content about matter? Then this digital Escape Room is what you've been looking for!
Find a video preview of this Escape Room on my YouTube Channel!
Here is the story.....Professor Von Dorfenberg has locked his students in the lab, and they must use their superior knowledge of the states of matter to escape!
This Escape Room will hook your kids, and they'll be learning about the states of matter without even realizing it!
Section 1 of the Escape Room
The first section sets up the story about getting locked in the lab and requires students to type their name so you can track their responses.
Section 2 of the Escape Room
In the second section, students watch a short video embedded in the resource, and then answer multiple choice questions about the content in the video. The answers to the questions are the code to unlock the next section.
Section 3 of the Escape Room
The third section has four true-false questions about the states of matter. Again, the answers to the questions provide the code for the getting to the final section.
Section 4 of the Escape Room
In the last section, students read a text about matter and answer reading comprehension questions about the text. This final section is the most difficult as the questions are modeled after SBAC and PARCC questions, and test students' understanding of the text as well as their knowledge of the science content. Inputting the right code for the final section opens the door and leads students to a mini-celebration.
This is marked as B for Beginner because the the codes are simple. The content is not - it is on grade level for 4th and 5th grades.
These are self-grading! All of the questions are self-checking and receive instant feedback. You will also be able to look at student responses individually or whole class. You'll love how easy this makes planning and grading, and your students will love the fun craziness of escaping from the lab!
