This activity has a FUN comic book inspired feel. Students read seven informational slides about the policies of both Federalists and Democratic Republicans about key issues of our new nation. Students read large, screen friendly text and analyze two primary sources from each political party.
After reading the historical background, students use a template, Common Core pattern story format to create a story that outlines the differences of the two political parties. Students are required to support their claims with evidence from text. The mini-Google ready project is an engaging, student centered way to get the class to process the differences between Federalists and Republicans in the New Nation era.
The set comes with teacher instructions, informational text, primary sources and a template for students to use. On the last page, students defend their own choice of which political party they would have most like aligned. They are required to use key vocabulary in a paragraph response that defends their position.
