Google "My Maps" is an APP that functions as a simple GIS (geographical information system) Users can add point, line and area symbols, change colours and map symbols and input their own data into custom made map layers and data tables.
This activity acts as a tutorial for "My Maps" and will teach your students how to use the "My Maps" APP.
The tutorial is 47 pages using graphical instructions and screen shots.
I like to digitally share the pdf version of the tutorial with my students and have them work directly from the tutorial on their computer screen.
IMPORTANT: Students must have a google account to use "My Maps" and the maps they create will be stored on their Google drive
Included in the compressed folder is a series of suggestions on how "My Maps" can be used in a variety of subject areas from geography to history or even planning a field trip and sharing your map with parents.
Included in the Zip folder is both a .doc version and pdf
