This project takes 2-3 class periods and is a great way for students to engage in GIS and electronic maps. It is also a great way for students to get to know each other at the beginning of the year.
Students create maps in Google My Maps using places that have significance to them (favorite ice cream store, favorite restaurant, etc). For each place they place a point in their map and type a description.
Finally, the students present their maps to the class, talking about the significance of their different points.
