This is a set of directions for creating a checkbook in Excel or Google Sheets that automatically calculates an account's balance given deposits and withdrawals.
The directions are a half-sheet (2 to a page) that I have my Consumer Math students glue into their notebooks. After adding the formulas tot heir sheets to create the checkbook, I suggest that they change fonts, etc. to jazz up their sheets. My hope is that they will use the sheet to keep track of their personal finances in real life.
