Description

Students read excerpts from Andrew Carnegie's Gospel of Wealth and answer 16 questions. One question has students compare and contrast two political cartoons. This would be great for a sub and the answers are included where appropriate.

Sample questions include:

--Identify, in your own words, what Carnegie believes the problem facing America is.

--Explain what Carnegie believes separates the “drones from the bees.” Translate that to American society in the second half of the 1800s, who was represented by drones and who was represented by bees?

--Re-write Carnegie’s essential question being tackled in your own words to demonstrate understanding.

--How does Carnegie explain that Communism would be a revolution, and would it be one worth having, why or why not?

--Rank the modes from least to most desirable from Carnegie’s point of view and explain why they are ranked in that way.
