Every teacher knows that problem solving skills is a critical part of mathematics. Regardless of grade level, it is vital that our students become savvy problem-solvers. However, for some, this is an extremely difficult skill to grasp.
This is a free supplement aid checklist that could assist your struggling students (or students in Sp.Ed. who require visual supports.) The purpose of this checklist is to give students a concrete, visual way to keep track of where they are in the problem solving process.
As a Sp.Ed. teacher, I have witnessed the power these kinds of graphic organizers can have on struggling students. I've seen highly visual kids, students with autism, and students with ADHD thrive through the use of a problem solving checklist.
Included in this document you will find a sheet that provides some tips for introducing checklists in your classroom, a reproducible copy of the checklist with words, and a pictures only version of the checklist.
*Please note that this checklist will already be included in my "Got a Problem?" test prep packets.
