This detailed computer project includes seven jobs for students to create an Excel workbook displaying a real estate listing, inventory, sales analysis, project net worth, pie charts of assets and liabilities, average sales report and a candy bar sale report from data provided by characters, businesses and a school located in Batman's Gotham City. Each job is progressive starting with a simply task for Job 1 and working up to more challenges by Job 7. Your purchase will include step-by-step details for each job, job evaluation sheets, and the answer keys in Word format. The answer key in Excel format is also sold on this site. This project was designed using Microsoft Excel for Mac 2011, version 14.4.7; therefore, the steps are written for Mac computers. However, feel free to convert to Windows.

A teacher may choose to allow students to work independently by proving the class with a copy of this detailed packet, or this project could be teacher led from a computer and data projector station. Plan five to seven class periods for this project. The following objectives are covered within this mini-simulation:

Enter data (labels/values) in cells; build a workbook; modify column width; insert a row; merge and center headings; add style to headings; use SUM, subtraction, and AVERAGE formulas; use IF function; change general format to currency format; decrease decimal places; create a multiplication and absolute reference formula; adjust the format of a cell; copy a formula; change text style; checking spelling in a worksheet; apply conditional formatting; format cells with an icon set; add borders; modify column width using cell actions; set cell color; create, resize charts, and move chart labels to create lines connecting to pie chart; insert images; change print orientation and more.
