8th grade students have a very hard time with mental mapping and spatial thinking. To help them improve these skills, I have created a worksheet around a popular mobile game: Pokemon Go. In the assignment, students use a map and follow 18 directions by circling the appropriate options. They need to think about cardinal directions and look for major road names.
This could be used for any middle school geography class or upper elementary school with the right guidance.
My students completed this today and they said it was a lot of fun! That's a rarity for 13-year-olds!
