Government is probably one of the hardest standards to teach students in third grade because the content is very abstract. However, with this fun interactive unit, it breaks down the information for students to understand our national, state, and local government and the branches of government! It includes 2 student interactive books (the branches and levels of government), 2 reading passages for close reading with assessments, 2 vocabulary lists with assessments, extra credit assignments and other assessment tools to help meet the needs of all learners, a mobile activity, 2 sorts and 2 flip-flaps (the branches and levels of government) on government responsibilities, a flip-flap to compare the federal and state government, and 2 persuasive writing prompts with outline paper and publishing paper. Well what are you waiting for, check it out and get your students excited learning about government! (Wanting to SAVE INK? It is also in black and white!)
NOTE to BUYERS: When I made this file, I was making it for the state and city I currently live in; however, this would only limit this product to a small group of people. So, I ADDED EXTRA in this file to make it USEFUL for those that live in OTHER STATES and CITIES. If your town or city does not have a mayor some pages in book 2 for your students may be tricky for your students; however, it will raise questions among your students as to why some cities/towns have them and others do not. If you have any questions about any part of this file please ask or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I will UPDATE this file accordingly to the people that are in these positions listed in this file that are changed based on the winners of elections, retirements, appointments, or impeachments yearly, if they may occur through the lifetime that this file is listed on this site.
