PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This lesson plan spells out how to use the article/chapter titled "Why Was the Constriction Necessary?" to teach government students about the weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation, the road to the Constitutional Convention, the Bill of Rights, federalists vs. anti-federalists, and related content. I started off this lesson having students skim the article, then sharing what the main topics are that they think we will read about. Students then go through a basic annotation process, followed by a summary-sharing activity and a quiz. This activity could easily replace an entire textbook chapter on the origins of the Constitution. This product is tried and tested in my class! Lesson took approximately 1.5 block periods (3 hours).
