This PowerPoint explores the three types of population policies from around the world - expansive (pro-natal), restrictive (anti-natal) and eugenic population policy. It can be used in Human Geography or World Geography.
It gives examples along with links to news articles supporting the examples (and which you can assign for reading and further understanding). I used the newest AP Human Geography Fouberg textbook (de Blij) and news articles I found.
Each slide is very saturated with information and examples, and takes about a 50 minute class period to discuss.
The slides are about:
1 - Intro
2 - types of policies
3 - Looking at an aging population: Japan
4 - expansive population policies
5 - Russia and Sweden as examples of expansive policies that worked
6 - more examples of expansive policies
7 - restrictive population policies and China's One-Child Policy (and consequences of)
8 - China compared to Japan
9 - Eugenic population policies in India, Nazi Germany, and Israel
10 - Religion and Government and Family Planning - Muslims and Catholics
