Government and Human Rights
Our high school Global Gateway curriculum is designed to provide you and your students with essential attitudes, skills and knowledge for global citizenship, while exploring the complexity of current global issues. Through embedded social entrepreneurship principles, it promotes an understanding of the student as an active participant in the world, with an important role and crucial responsibilities.
The curriculum is aligned to the Common Core Standards, P21 Standards - 21st Century Skills, National Educational Technology Standards, and Career Technical Education Standards and organized in the following six main themes: Global Society, Global Geography, Global Environment, Global Education, Global Economy, Global Politics.
Government and Human Rights is one of five in Global Politics unit exploring the impact of political systems on human rights and the complexity of the process which Spanish-, Chinese- and Arabic-speaking countries use to make political decisions. Students will learn about governmental structures, debate the issue of immigration, and explore human rights definitions and concerns in different countries.
