Included in this file are two separate documents for students to practice data analysis and show their knowledge & understanding.
The first file has various forms of data analysis practice (organized into three parts) for your class to complete.
In part 1, they will practice organizing data by making a:
- frequency table
- line plot
- stem & leaf plot
- tree diagram
In part 2, they will practice representing (graphing) data by making a:
- bar graph
- double bar graph
- line graph
In part 3, they will demonstrate their understanding of data by choosing the best method to represent the information given to them (ie: is it best to use a bar graph, frequency table, stem & leaf plot etc..).
The second file contains 3 visual journal pages, in conjunction with the practice above. My kids completed the practice above and then completed the visual journal page linked to each part.
Page 1 - Types of Data
Page 2 - Ways to Collect Data (goes with Part 1 of the other file)
Page 3 - Showing Data - Types of Graphs (goes with Part 2 of the other file)
It took my class 2-3 periods to completing the data analysis practice booklet. They then took another 2 classes on each journal page..... if that helps with your planning =)
