Teach your first graders how to make graphs and analyze them in a challenging and engaging way!
Grab and Graph can be used as a method to teach whole group or small group. It can also be used as a center activity for review or reinforcement.
This activity is differentiated (three levels- below, on, and above), hands-on, and open-ended!
Little prep is required! Put your classroom tangram shapes (square, hexagon, triangle, diamond, and trapezoid) into bags, print, and go!
**A class set of tangram shapes or a printed set of shapes will be required.
I used this activity to teach how to make and analyze picture graphs (whole group). I then had the students work independently, while I worked with my high group (level 3). My principal observed this lesson and LOVED it!
Most importantly, my students gained hands-on experience of making graphs. They were completely engaged throughout the entire lesson. They LEARNED so much!
I had 24 bags of shapes prepared. Inside each bag had a different combination of shapes. My students were able to graph over and over with different results each time.
Laminate for use over and over!
Quick, Simple, Engaging, and Effective!
