This is a grade 1 money assessment based on expectations outlined in the Ontario curriculum. The test includes a rubric and is made up of 4 sections: understanding, problem solving, communication, and application. The following skills are assessed on this test:
-counting to find the total value of coins up to 20 cents
-adding and subtracting money amounts up to 20 cents
-solving problems involving money
-identifying the names and values of coins (penny, nickel, quarter, dime, loonie, toonie)
-drawing coins to represent given money amounts up to 20 cents
-circling coins needed to buy items
***As this is for grade 1, you could complete this assessment over a few days by dividing it in half. For the communication section, I would allow students to give oral answers and scribe for them if needed.
