This grade twelve exam is a detailed debate analysis that follows a month-long debate unit. It is worth 80 marks.
Students who write this exam should have a general knowledge of argumentative strategies and rhetorical techniques, and a basic understanding of how visual elements (i.e., camera angles) shape an audience's perception and impact persuasion.
This exam requires one or two periods of exam prep in which students view a debate and take guided notes ("Look Fors"). The notes are collected and redistributed at the exam for stduent reference.
The exam also consists of a course reflection with guided prompts (20 marks).
