What is air? What is water? These are two overarching theme questions that this activity packet addresses. This activity packet is aligned with the Ontario Grade 2 Science curriculum. The big ideas covered in this packet are:
➢ Air and water are a major part of the environment;
➢ Living things need air and water to survive;
➢ Changes to air and water affect living things and the environment;
➢ Our actions affect the quality of air and water, and its ability to sustain life.

➢ The properties of air, the properties of water
➢ Air use, water use (both negative and positive)
➢ The water cycle
➢ The wind cycle
➢ Water in three states (solid, liquid and gas)
➢ Water in the built and natural environment
This activity packet includes worksheets, cut-and-paste activities, investigations, demonstrations, vocabulary posters and a craft. There are also a few assessment activities included at the end of this packet. Through this packet, students gain an understanding of what air and water are and the importance of air and water to living things and the environment. This activity pack includes teacher's notes which provides you with background information and material to reference while teaching students about air and water in the environment. Finally, this packet includes answer sheets for more of the answer specific activity sheets.
