If you are looking for a way to assess your students' potential before teaching the next Everyday Math unit, then this might work for you!
In this 47 page file you will find:
--Pretests for Grade 2 Everyday Math (Units 1-11)
--Recording Checklists (Units 1-11)
The purpose of these pretests are to assess how students might perform for Everyday Math Units 1-11. These pretests do NOT necessarily match what is on the end of unit test but instead the types of problems students would encounter in the daily lessons. I tried to include both average and challenging type questions and at the end of each problem there is the corresponding math lesson in parenthesis. This might help with grouping students for guided math or to help identify which lessons might be challenging or too easy for your whole class.
The recording checklists show objectives for each of the math units. Sometimes an advanced objectives are also included. You can use this recording sheet for each unit to determine if your students are advanced, average, or below in each of the lessons. Again this might be a great visual to help you plan guided math groups or even for reporting grades.
Some pretests do not include something from every lesson in the unit. If the objective was an exploration lesson, for example, I left that out. Other lessons seemed to lend themselves to a whole group experience.
I created this product to help me try out a guided math workshop in my classroom this year! I hope it can help you too!
