The Fractions Activity Packet is aligned with the Ontario Grade 2 Mathematics curriculum expectations. This packet includes five lessons that can be used to help students understand fractions without the use of standard fractional notation. This packet can be used with high flying students in Grade 1 or students in Grade 3 who need to review key concepts in terms of working with fractions. The fractions presented in this packet are friendly (e.g., one-half, two-thirds, three-quarters) as students are beginning to understand the fractions are parts of a whole.
The specific expectations this packet addresses are:
* Determine the relationship between the number of fractional parts of a whole and the size of the fractional parts;
* Regroup fractional parts into wholes;
* Compare fractions without using standard fractional notation;
There are answer keys provided where applicable and all lessons include an introduction activity, a core learning activity as well as learning consolidation notes. If you have any questions, please feel free to let me know.
