The "Movement and Simple Machines" activity packet is designed to meet the Ontario Grade 2 Science specific expectations. This packet deals with movement, position language and simple machines. The six simple machines discussed in this packet are: wheels and axles, levers, pulleys, wedges, inclined planes and screws. This packet is divided into four sections. The four sections are as follows:
Section 1: Vocabulary Posters
This section includes both colour and black and white vocabulary posters. These posters clearly state the term being defined, the definition/explanation and a picture that accompanies the definition.
Section 2: Activity Worksheets
This section includes activity worksheets that help to meet the curriculum expectations outlined in the Ontario Science curriculum. These activity worksheets surround the topics of position language, simple machines and how simple machines make our lives easier. This section also includes readings about the six simple machines.
Section 3: Experiment Suggestions
This section includes 3 experiment suggestions that can be used to explore simple machines (i.e., wedges and inclined planes).
Section 4: Simple Machine Matching Game
This section includes a simple machine matching game where students match up a picture of the simple machine to the name of the simple machine and the description of the simple machine. This matching game is presented in both colour and black and white.
Section 5: Answer Keys
This section includes answer keys for the fill-in-the-blank worksheets and for the various other activity worksheets presented in this packet.
