Help your students understand the attributes and properties of polygons. These activities and worksheets engage students in describing, comparing and exploring shape properties. There are nine activities and 16 worksheets included.
Provide engaging activities and worksheets for your students to learn how to partition shapes and describe the parts with fractions. There are four activities and seven worksheets included in the packet.
This packet includes content for the geometry standards in Common Core. Students explore attributes of polygons and find how polygons relate to each other. Students also partition shapes into equal parts and use fractions to describe these parts.
Log in to see state-specific standards (only available in the US).
Partition shapes into parts with equal areas. Express the area of each part as a unit fraction of the whole. For example, partition a shape into 4 parts with equal area, and describe the area of each part as 1/4 of the area of the shape.
Understand that shapes in different categories (e.g., rhombuses, rectangles, and others) may share attributes (e.g., having four sides), and that the shared attributes can define a larger category (e.g., quadrilaterals). Recognize rhombuses, rectangles, and squares as examples of quadrilaterals, and draw examples of quadrilaterals that do not belong to any of these subcategories.
