This is a culminating task I designed for a grade 3 class. I taught a unit on advertisements that covered perspective, audience, purpose, "gimmicks" and overt and implied messages.
This task asks the students to apply what they have learned to create their own television advertisement, carefully considering the audience, purpose and gimmicks, and act out the advertisement in front of the class. You could use this to also assess drama and/or oral language because of the performance aspect. A rubric based on media literacy expectations in the Ontario curriculum is included.
