Grade 3 is a BIG year. In Ontario the kiddos complete the Grade 3 EQAO standardized testing. In this package you you will find lots of resources to help make the big day a little bit easier.
1) Key Words Posters: titles and descriptions of what each key word used in the standardized tests means and how your kiddos should best represent their work when asked a question with one of these tricky words.
2) Scoot Cards: 35+ Math and Language Scoot cards to help your kiddos get up and out of their seats while still prepping for the big day. Each question is similar to a multiple choice question from a previous EQAO test. Kiddos start at one card which can be on their desk or taped to the walls. They then write their best guess on the Scoot response sheets. I usually play a fun tune during their response time. When the song ends they "scooooot" to the next card and the process happens all over again!
3) Testing Taking Fairy Encouragement: Many of my kiddos were still super nervous. I brought a stuffed Fairy into the room and she instantly became the Test Taking Fairy. She brought an initial note wishing good luck and encouraged a community circle about how we were feeling. The kids loved giving her a hug to have her luck rub off on them. Then each day they can find notes on their lockers or desk from The Test Taking Fairy. She truly puts their mind at ease! A sketch of a fairy on the board would also work well too! Find included are poems for the Fairy to bring. Simply cut out each card so each kiddo has their own message from the Fairy! Some poems are repeated twice with two different Fairies on each to match what you look like.
Have fun prepping your little ones for the BIG day!
